If you’re chronically online, you probably came across the trending audio: “you cannot reason with a tiger when your head is in its mouth.”

Logic and negotiation and your sense of justice are of no use when you’re in danger or someone’s control. You can either try to prevent such a scenario by having strong boundaries and unshakable self worth, or you can wait it out, observe, gather intel, strategise, play house and be sweet, and then strike when the time is right.

Be like a leopard on a hunt. The leopard rarely misses its prey. Not because it’s fast. But because the leopard watches, studies, adapts, strategises and then attacks without warning. No roar. No rustling of bushes. No hiss.

Stop announcing every feeling. Every shift in your mood. Stop announcing every desire. Stop announcing your dreams. If you’re in such a situation as discussed, you are already in a rigged game. Do not try to reinvent the wheel. You will end up running in circles and fall back at their feet. Learn their rules. Beat them at their own game.

Use every failure to learn how they strike. Let them think you’re getting beaten as you study them. Gather more than one weapon. If a sword is all you have, then you’ll strike at every problem. Learn which wine makes them laugh a little louder, what food makes them sleep a little deeper, or is it whisky that makes them a bit more unguarded? The devil is in the details.

People who fuck up once and have bad faith, will do it again and again. You just have to be patient enough to find out. No human being does something only once. One of my favourite authors Robert Greene constantly emphasises that.

Sometimes you have to act the fool to fool the fool who thinks he is fooling you.
